I’ve been keeping bees for about ten years and am the fourth generation in my family to do so. All I’ve learned is that’s it’s a labor of love, not money or honey. Anything can go wrong at anytime that can wipe out a hive. Recently we removed a huge “wild” hive that had swarmed on our property. They are Italian bees, so they are not ours, which are a Russian mix for mite control.
It took quite a few tries and Oren climbing up a 40 foot tree three times to finally box them. Tim Metcalf was on hand to help, it was definitely a three person job. There’s nothing quite like sweeping clumps of angry confused bees with thunder rumbling in the distance into a bucket! But I love it.
